Really hoping this storm doesn't hit

A storm has blown in and it has some really scary potential. It might drop some baseball sized hail on us. There might also be some 70+ mile per hour winds. I'm really hoping not to sustain much damage. Fingers crossed that the neighbors don't get hit either.

Update

Update time. The shower had an accident and decided to spring a leak on Saturday night. Who doesn't love having the water start running at 2 in he morning? The good news is my neighbor down the street managed to turn off the water at the city pipe so it only ran for about 20 minutes. The upside is that with a few parts from the local hardware shop I fixed it.

We also got the stove changed out for the new one. I'm loving this new Samsung gas range. This thing is amazing, five burners, stainless steel, convection, heck it even has a dehydrate setting. I can finally do all of the cooking like I've always wanted to.

We also managed to take down the non functioning ceiling fan from my laundry/office. It has been replaced by the most slick lighting arrangement I've ever owned. This entire set up is a big cluster of LED's. When we bought it we got lots too, it turns out we didn't need them.

It turns out my work schedule is light this week so that means weather permitting I'll get to do some more stuff around the house. Hopefully the toilet will get done later today. We will see, I'm really hoping the weather doesn't end up as bad as they are predicting.

To do list

Well my list of projects has grown by two now. First, my shower decided to break on me.
That of course means there needs to be a trip to the hardware store. I've also decided (after having the water shoot out with the knobs turned off) that I need to put in the property water shut off valve sooner rather than later. Who knows what else will happen.

First week

This is the front view of the new house. Week one has brought some landscaping, lawn has been mown, most of the weeds have been whacked. This weekend should bring the changing of some lights, installation of a new gas stove and toilet (not gas), and if I get everything else done I'll be putting the first raised bed in. Wish me luck.

Welcome (early stages)

I just moved into my new house with a quarter acre of land. I'm also pursuing my second bachelors degree, hence the collegiate portion of this blogs name. I'm studying animal science with a range management focus. That means I'll be learning about the interplay between livestock and pasture land. Hopefully I can put some of that to use here on the homestead. I hope to keep this blog updated with through my time owning a home and being as self sufficient as I can in college.
